About Me

Dr. Brooke Ruf (Ruf rhymes with "proof")

I founded Ruf Psychology Services to provide quality, compassionate, and uniquely-tailored psychological services to individuals in the community.  Navigating the field of mental health can be daunting, and I don't expect you to have it all figured out.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist with specialized training in psychodynamic psychotherapy and clinical neuropsychology.  Patients I work with see me for either ongoing individual psychotherapy (talk-therapy) or evaluations called neuropsychological evaluations (learn more about these here).

I value open, honest communication and welcome you to ask even the questions that feel silly or dumb.  I aspire to make every patient feel heard, respected, and well-cared for.  I consider it a privilege to get to know my patients and their stories, providing nonjudgmental support during what may be the most stressful, scary, and overwhelming times in their lives.

My approach to every patient considers all the complexities that come with being human including biology and medical history, early life experiences, environmental factors, specific life events, and personal choices.  Learn more about my approach in psychotherapy and neuropsychological evaluations.

Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, eating tasty food, and I usually have a jigsaw puzzle in process.  I also enjoy engaging with nature (e.g., walks, bird watching, sitting outside or on the beach) and exploring new places.
